MANIPULATIONS
HVLA (high velocity, low amplitude) joint manipulation is a gentle and safe way to restore a normal range of motion and ease pain. HVLA is often accompanied by a popping or cracking sound as gas bubbles are released from the fluid within the joint.
DEEP SOFT TISSUE MASSAGE
Osteopathic soft-tissue techniques are more targeted than traditional massage and focus on muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Treatment may include massage, stretching, deep pressure and cupping.
DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling uses fine filament needles to help loosen trigger points within the muscle fibres. Electro dry needling is a modified form of dry needling treatment that applies an electrical stimulation through the needle to prolong pain relief.
Dry needling can elicit a ‘local twitch response’ leading to alteration in the length and tension of muscles fibers resulting in decreased tension.
Sustained trigger points might cause localised pain. Dry needling causes vasodialation in the small blood vessels leading to increased muscle blood flow and oxygenation. This helps to alleviate pain and tension.
FIRE CUPPING
Fire cupping – also known as myofascial cupping – is a therapy that involves applying small glass suction cups to your skin to release tightness and improve blood flow in the underlying muscle and surrounding areas.
MUSCLE SCRAPPING & IASTM
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM) is a manual treatment that uses specialised tools to gently move and scrape the skin and soft tissue to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and promote healing.
MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUES
Muscle energy techniques are a type of manual therapy used to lengthen and strengthen muscles and improve the range of motion of joints. Your osteopath will provide controlled resistance while you push against them and repeat this process several times to encourage muscle flexibility.
MYO-FASCIAL RELEASE
Fascial release is a hands-on technique that releases tension in the fascia – the connective tissue that supports and protects the body’s muscles and organs. Fascia can become tight and inflexible over time due to injury, inflammation, surgery or poor posture; releasing fascial tension eliminates pain and restores a full range of motion.
EXERCISE REHABILITATION
Exercise rehabilitation sees your osteopath build a personalised exercise and training program to help you manage pain or disability, prevent injuries and optimise your body’s function.
TAPING & BRACING INTERVENTION
Our osteopaths use sports tape or bracing to provide support to a joint to relieve pain, improve stability and prevent the occurrence or recurrence of an injury in a vulnerable part of your body. Both interventions can assist with acute and chronic conditions.
BALANCED LIGAMENTOUS TENSION (BLT) / CRANIO-SACRAL THERAPY
BLT is a gentle technique working on the principle of balancing the tension among ligaments supporting a joint to reset the normal functions of that joint whilst reducing tension and pain.
SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
ESWT is an advanced treatment that uses acoustic shockwaves to break up soft tissue calcifications, enhance collagen synthesis, increase blood supply, release growth factors, and stimulate your body’s healing process to improve pain.
This therapy enhances blood circulation and accelerates the healing of stubborn musculoskeletal conditions in bones, tendons, ligaments, and muscle.
Depending on the injury, patients can avoid invasive treatments such as steroid injections or surgery. Most patients see long-term results after only three treatments, which take about 15 minutes each.
